Martins Chocolatier Luxury Advent Calendar
An unusual advent calendar design can elevate the way your product interacts with consumers, offering a unique experience for consumers for each day of advent.
There was a time when opening an advent calendar in December meant being content with finding a festive image printed behind each door. Whilst the tradition of the advent calendar is more popular than ever, consumers now expect something more and this has seen the market explode with luxury advents containing everything from gin to dog treats.
Martins chocolatier wanted to capitalise on this demand with an own-brand offering and approached us when they were looking to manufacture a ‘grown-up’ luxury advent for gourmet Belgium chocolates.
The brief required the packaging to have a high-end look and feel, whilst being flat enough to be easily transported for online sales. The unusual triangle shape developed when the customer requested a non-traditional advent shape that would have shelf presence. The triangle shape is reminiscent of a festive Christmas tree, which could be stood up on a shelf to decorate your room during advent.
Although the packaging looks complex, the construction is simple to assemble and utilises our stock vac-form trays, which reduced the overall tooling cost for the project.
The Nordic-inspired graphic design was brought to life with detailed gold hot foil blocking to highlight key design elements.
Simplicity was key with printing where the colour palette was kept muted and modern and printed using litho print. The silk lamination, normally reserved for premium beauty and cosmetic packaging, gave the packaging a tactile finish and tied together the other elements to give the final project the luxurious finish that the customer desired.
