We never stop innovative design here at Team Meridian. Because a lot of our work is seasonal we are always working at least a season ahead (which gets very confusing when it come’s to working out what month it is!)
Our in-house design team have been working hard for the past few months to put together a collection of new product designs to offer our customers for the forthcoming 2020 brochure.
We want to ensure that our products don’t get left on the shelf if we don’t update or innovate, so it’s important to look at upcoming trends and see how we can bring these to even the most trend conscious consumers.
Let’s take a closer look at each of these 5 x upcoming trends.
Minimalist Trends
Sometimes the best way to create a lasting impression is to let your product speak for itself. Reducing a product’s packaging design to it’s essence is a powerful way to truly hone your brand.
Minimal packaging design allows the integrity of your product to shine through. It can provide a break for consumer eyes weary of bright, cluttered packaging adorned with outrageous or ornate design work.
Sustainable Packaging
With more and more focus on the impact of packaging waste, it’s more important than ever that we start to think green. It’s not just the right thing to do – it’s also good for business.
We want to give customers a range that allows them to tick all environmental boxes that consumers are seeking out. From recyclable and biodegradable board to RPET, we are finding alternative materials that offer our customers products that allows them to reduce their environmental impact.
Neutrals, Pastels & Patterns
In the past few years, we’ve seen a huge graphic design trend that incorporates bright colours, loud patterns, and in your face graphics. The 2019 trend to incorporate neutral and pastel colours within this style is a respite for overtired consumer eyes.
We expect packaging in 2020 will have more of these soothing, gentle colour palettes.
Unusual Playful Graphics
Adopting an unusual, playful graphic style in packaging can appeal to consumers looking for a light-hearted experience, an adventure, or something that is unapologetically fun.
Christmas and Easter are seasons that revolve around children and families and what better style to go for, for both the young and young at heart.
Black & White
Designers have used the yin and yang of colours to great effect, and this trend shows no signs of fading. There’s something powerful about packages that use white and black. It removes the distraction of colour, and instead draws the eye to the shape and form of the design.
There’s also a sophistication to designs using black and white. If our customers are not sold on bright, intense colours then the simplicity of black and white will be the perfect choice.
This is just a brief view of the trends we predict for 2020. In the next month we will be putting together the finalised designs and getting a new product brochure compiled.
